From waste to a solid mineral: a new technology that captures CO2 from the atmosphere and cleans up the planet

Bu Wang

Credentials: Faculty Mentor

Position title: Assistant Professor, Civil and Environmental Engineering, UW-Madison

Dr. Wang is an expert in carbon capture and mineralization, cementitious materials, and alkaline  waste utilization. He is an inventor of tour technology that is being demonstrated. He is leading projects from the Department of Energy and National Science  Foundation developing carbon mineralization technologies and low-carbon footprint cement. He  has experience developing several carbon capture and utilization processes including CO2– negative upcycled concrete and precipitated calcium carbonate production from waste materials  and produced water.
